1973 VW "The Thing"
Owners- Tom & Joan Michel
In the United States this Volkswagen Model 181 is referred to as, The Thing.  It is based on a military vehicle produced by Volkswagen for the German Army.

This is one of 14,179 “civilianized” versions of the military vehicle which were imported into the United States in 1973.  About the same number of an early identical vehicle were imported in 1974. Very few remain of these in service, and high quality “Things” are now bringing a handsome price.  One customized “Thing” recently sold at a Barrett-Jackson auction for over $46,000.

Tom’s Thing was restored to a factory original condition about 8 years ago.  Only original OEM parts are on the vehicle.  It has a number of rare factory options that were available to customers.  For example, it has a dual air cleaner system, front skid plate, engine and transmission guards, reserve fuel tank, chock block, starting hand crank, and first aid kit.  (While my vehicle has value, it is not valued at $46,000)

1972 Skylark GSX Clone Convertible

Owners- Ray & Nancy Faircloth
This car has quite the story. We purchased the car after it had just been restored and the owner was driving it home from the shop. A car ran a read light and boom!!!  He was so upset he took the new motor, transmission and the new AC parts. I ended up with the body, which had a new top, windshield, interior and rear Buick Wing. I rebuilt a ‘72 motor, purchased a performance Turbo 400 Transmission. I had to replace the left front fender and hood. The car was originally white. I repainted it and added the strips. This car has cruise control, AC, automatic, P/S, front disc brakes, AM-FM CD Player.

1967 AC Cobra
Owners- Santiago & Debbie Fonseca
After so many years of dreaming about owning a Cobra, we ordered a custom-built Everett-Morrison model in 1998.  I had retired from the Army and that was my retirement present. We really liked the construction and how solid they were – to this day, the doors still give a solid thump when you close them.  The car is a standard 1987 Mustang II: a 5-Liter H.O. Ford engine, a T5 transmission, standard 9” rear end, 4-wheel disk brakes, and we added a Holley 4-Bbl carburetor. What makes this Cobra unique is I designed the cockpit and Debbie and I finished the door panels.  We’re always improving it, mechanically, as well as cosmetically.

We had it in Germany for 4 years and we’ve driven it in snow, rain and sleet (not by choice!).  We’ve participated in world-class shows and cruises, like the Nurburgring’s Old Timer Grand Prix, but our most memorable trip to date has been the “24 Heurs du Floride” in April of this year.  We spent 3 days making a circle around the state with 60 other Cobras and owners from as far as Atlanta and Pensacola with the Deep South Cobra Club.

Owners- Dan & Eveline Zajac
Owned, and under restoration since 1995, by Dan and Eveline Zajac, this car is one of only 6,103 Nomads built by Chevrolet in 1957.  Originally conceived as a "Corvette Nomad", high production costs and limited numbers of Corvette Chassis drove Chevrolet to build the Nomad as a full sized, sport wagon in 1955, '56 and '57.  This resto-mod includes a stock body and interior, a GMPP 350 "Ramjet" electronically fuel injected motor, a GM 700R4 transmission, a high capacity Griffin cross flow radiator, Vintage Air air-conditioning, tubular a-arms, disc brakes, anti-roll bar, a GM 10 bolt rear axle, traction bars and 17"Torque Thrust II wheels with low profile 235/45s up front and 275/40s in the rear.

1967 Plymouth Barracuda Formula S

Owners- Eveline, Dan & Danny Zajac
Dan, Eveline, and Danny Zajac's 1967 Plymouth Barracuda, Formula S is a close to stock example of Plymouth's answer to the Mustang and Camaro in the hotley contested Pony Car Wars of the '60s. This Cuda is a Formula S model which included a -- for 1967-- sport suspension (front disc brakes with an anti roll bar) and a powerful small block V-8. In this case the motor is a potent 340 cu in bored an additional .030. Future plans call for engine and suspension upgrades to enhance driveability.
1970 Plymouth Superbird

Owners- Eveline, Dan Zajac
Dan and Eveline Zajac's very rare 1970 Plymouth Superbird, one of only approximately 1960 constructed.  Designed by Plymouth with the help of NASCAR's "King" Richard Petty; the Superbird was designed to race at NASCAR's super speedways at speeds of over 200 mph, and in race trim they did just that.  After dominating the 1970 race season, NASCAR changed the rules with lower displacements, restricter plates and added weight to virtually outlaw the aerodynamic wing cars.  After searching for one for about a year Dan and Eveline found their car locally and now enjoy it's unique heritage and driving experince.
 1969 Dodge Dart

Owners-  Daniel B.  Zajac
Daniel B. Zajac's 1969 Dodge Dart project car.  Acquired by Dan in the local area and is a young man's project.  While in rough shape and powered by a famed MOPAR Slant Six, the build plan is the most significant auto project the family will take on.  The design includes a modern fuel injected Hemi, a manual five speed tranny and pro street suspension.  However, first the father - son team has to complete some significant body work.  Give them a few years to complete this one.
